The commanders of security control centers held their first conference for this year's Hajj season at the headquarters of the Public Security in Mina, which included the plans and regulations of the security control centers.
At the outset of the conference, the assistant commander of Hajj security for roads security, Major General Khalid Al-Qahtani, delivered a speech in which he commended the support provided to the security control centers by the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince, to enable them perform their functions fully.
He explained that the security control centers regulate the traffic and security movement. They also follow-up the issues relating to the road security forces and other security agencies within the security system that maintain the security, order and traffic safety on all roads, including the screening points, which are now the main entrance to the holy city of Makkah.
He said that there are strict royal orders and directives to prevent the violating pilgrims who do not carry Hajj permits from entering Makkah, noting that there is an intensified screening on the roads to monitor the infiltrators and violators at the checkpoints.
He stressed that the security committee has issued penalties to punish the violators of Hajj regulations who do not carry permits and those who transport them, whether persons or vehicles.
Brig. Abdul Rahman Salem Al-Thamali, head of the Tayef police and commander of a local monitoring and control checkpoint, said police officers would not discriminate between citizens and expatriates.
He said officers at various checkpoints would be responsible for inspecting cars on the way to Makkah. These include the Al-Mahamadia, Al-Hada, Akher and Al-Asher checkpoints.
Brig. Fahd Al-Madiehesh, commander of the temporary security checkpoints, said they would be spread out over 200 km on the roads leading to Makkah, including those running through valleys and farmland.
Brig. Ayed Al-Bugami, road security commander in the Makkah region, said there are four locations on entry points to Makkah, including Al-Shumaisi, Al-Qaqiah and Al-Taniem.
He said the aim is to ensure smooth traffic flow on the roads leading to Makkah.
Col. Faisal Al-Jaied, commander of the Al-Taniem checkpoint, said all the officers at various checkpoints are working together to stop violators.
