In the presence of Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region, and a number of princes, Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, and the general supervisor of Saudi relief campaigns, patronized the opening events of the Solidarity Day with the Syrian children, in line with the directive of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to mitigate the hardships they are meeting inside and outside Syria, especially the children who have been deprived of means of dignified means to life.
Upon arrival at the venue, the governor and the minister opened an exhibition on the sidelines of the campaign, and toured the pavilions, notably that one which has been dedicated to late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s contributions in humanitarian, relief and charitable works and world awards he secured.
A speech ceremony was then held. A film on the solidarity with Syrian children was screened. The UNICEF delivered a speech through its regional director Dr. Ibrahim Al-Zeeg, who casted light on the long partnership between the international children organization and Saudi relief committees, instructed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
He disclosed that UNICEF is set to establish a credit fund in the name of late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to be named “Prince Naif International Fund for Children”, in recognition of Prince Naif’s efforts in the humanitarian and relief work all over the world.
He also lauded the Kingdom’s continuous support, and Prince Mohammed bin Naif's personal pledge to support programmes that contribute to salvaging lives of a number of children around the world, following his father's suit.
In the name of the children of the world, Dr. Al-Zeeg presented a shield to the minister of interior in recognition of his support for them.
