Saudi Arabia has signed an accession treaty in Doha, Qatar, with Mr. Neil Jensen, President of the International Egmont Group on Thursday 28 May 2009, and joined the Group.
The membership came after the Financial Investigation Unit (FIU) had answered the requirements for joining. The joining is a culmination of the efforts made by the Unit, under the direct supervision and follow-up of HRH Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, HRH Deputy Interior Minister and HRH Assistant to Interior Minister for Security Affairs.
The EGMONT Group is an international organisation in which the units of anti-money-laundering in the Group Member States worldwide meet to exchange information and coordinate efforts to combat the crime of money laundering and finance of terrorism in all Member States of the Group.
