Ivorian Interior and Security Minister, General Vagondo Diomande, described the selection of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire as part of "Makkah Route" initiative as a great honor.
Diomande's remarks came during the launching of the initiative at Abidjan international airport on Saturday.
The Ivorian minister indicated that the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire is the only African country chosen for this initiative, from which seven countries benefit.
The launch of the initiative was attended by Major General Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya, the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Makkah Route Initiative and the Director General of the Saudi General Directorate of Passports; Kandia Kamissoko Camara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Ivorians in the Diaspora, along with several senior officials and members of the supervisory committee of the initiative.
The ministry of interior implements the initiative in seven countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Morocco, Bangladesh, Türkiye, and Côte d'Ivoire for the fifth year in a row.
The initiative is part of the Pilgrim Experience Program (PEP), which is one of the programs of Saudi Vision 2030.
