The control and guidance centers at the General Directorate of Civil Defense across the Kingdom have received since last Sunday until today, Thursday, about 1275 reports, of which 138 from Riyadh city, 952 from Aseer region, 185 from the Eastern region, due to incessant rains in these regions.
According to the media center at the Civil Defense Directorate, the number of deaths reached two, one each in Aseer and Riyadh.
It said that about 526 people were found stuck in the floodwaters, and subsequently rescued; 44 such cases were found in Riyadh, 489 in Aseer, 14 in the Eastern region, 14 in Makkah and 1 in Najran. Most of the people were trapped inside their vehicles, with the number of vehicles rescued reaching 342, while 79 families and individuals were evacuated.
The media center has called on the citizens and residents to take extra care and stay away from the sites of floods and valleys, and not to go out picnicking in the wilds during heavy rainfall, urging them to abide by the warnings and instructions of the civil defense broadcast in the various printed, visual, and audio media outlets, and social networking sites.
