Minister of Labour and Social Development Dr. Ali bin Nasser Al-Ghafees and Director General of Civil Defense Lt. General Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Amr have signed today at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh, a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to support the voluntary work.
The MoU aims at enhancing the positive role of volunteers by recording their achievements according to a jointly agreed-upon mechanism, working collectively to disseminate community awareness to motivate the volunteerism – with the importance of emphasizing the comprehensive concept of civil defense in volunteerism – and the formation of qualified and trained women's task forces across the Kingdom’s regions.
The MoU also seeks to upgrade the capabilities and skills of the ministry's employees – who work at the shelter and day-care centers – in the area of evacuation and disaster controlling – and the setting-up of volunteer field teams in social development committees and community associations, so as to support the civil defense work and contribute to designing volunteer jobs in domains related to civil defense.
