The security spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said that at 8:15 a.m. of Friday, 19/7/1436 AH, the security authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle (RDX) high explosives and explosive capsules and arrested the traffickers.
This came after the Saudi customs had suspected a Ford, Fusion, coming from the Kingdom of Bahrain across the King Fahd Causeway, the spokesman said, adding that when the car was inspected by the competent security authorities, they found (14) plastic bags hidden inside the cavities in the back seat of the car, (11) of them coated with tin that contained (30.87) kilograms of high explosives (RDX), and two bags each containing 25 blasting caps, making the total (50) blasting caps, in addition to a bag containing a 5-meter detonator.
The competent security authorities have launched an investigation, in coordination and cooperation with counterparts in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in order to determine the purpose and identify those who stand behind the incident.
