Generally, the National Information Center (NIC) performs the following key roles:
- Contribute to achieving the desired national digital transformation by providing national joint solutions and digital platforms for government departments.
- Take responsibility for national data protection, enhance sharing of such data and utilize it in achieving the PSS's objectives.
- Provide the best business solutions to cope with the rapid development and steady expansion of PSS sectors and meet the increasing demands of its customers.
- Support and empower government departments' shifting towards e-government services at the national level in general and at the MOI level in particular.
- Ensure the highest level of information security at the national level and the MOI level.
- Provide communication and technical infrastructure services to the PSS, MOI and their sectors and regions' governorates, and ensure the highest degree of business continuity for these entities.
- Keep pace with the latest IT developments and adopt which suits the PSS needs.
- Train and qualify the employees of PSS and government departments in the IT field and transfer knowledge to them.
