Maj. Gen. Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya, Director General of Passports (GDP), has launched today at Riyadh region passport department, the new Resident ID card, which will replace the current residence permit "Iqama" card..
It is worth noting that the new resident five-year ID will bear no expiry date. It will carry the name of the expatriate, nationality, date of birth, occupation, religion, employer’s name and telephone number.
The GDP director general explained that the holders of old Iqama do not have to go to the passport department themselves, but can replace the old Iqama with the new resident ID card through the Interior Ministry’s Absher or Muqeem electronic systems.
