The General Department of Traffic has linked the issuance and renewal of a vehicle registration automatically to vehicle insurance in the National Information Center database.
The system has been introduced so that issuance or renewal of a vehicle registration is not possible unless the insurance data is available in the database without any human intervention by the traffic police.
Earlier, the General Department of Traffic has begun coordination with SAMA to transfer data of current insured persons with valid cards in a move that will contribute to dispense paper work used in the existing insurance system. It will as well, reduce fraud in the insurance policies, and the sale of insurance policies that are unlicensed by SAMA, which will protect the others’ rights in cases of traffic accidents, and preserves the right of the insured with the insurance company and speeds up the compensation process. Moreover, linking insurance automatically enables the traffic police to speed up finishing traffic accidents in the field.
