The Traffic Department’s e-portal “Tamm” has launched a new service to send istimaras (vehicle registration cards) to beneficiaries through the Saudi Post.
The new service comes to confirm the keenness of the interior ministry, represented by the National Information Center, and according to the directives of Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, to facilitate government procedures for citizens and residents.
Dr. Mohammed Bentin, Chairman of Saudi Post, said the first parcel of istimara was dispatched to the beneficiary as a first step of a wider and advanced cooperative programme between the Ministry of Interior and Saudi Post, to render the best possible services for citizens and expatriates.
He expressed happiness over the launch of the new service, in cooperation with the National Information Center under the ministry, Traffic General Department, and Elm Solutions. He added that Saudi Post wants to extend a bunch of e-services from the Ministry of Interior to citizens through utilizing its networks. Bentin said the new service will be made available throughout the Kingdom.
On his part, Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Moqbil, Director of Traffic Department, said that “Tamm” portal enabled his department to achieve e-transformation of its activities. The Department’s strategic partnership with Elm, which is owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), an investment arm of the Saudi ministry of finance, has facilitated providing a number of e-services such as transfer of vehicle ownership, renewal of vehicle registration, authorizing another driver to drive owner’s vehicle, enquiring about traffic tickets, accessing information about driver’s licence without having to go to the Traffic Department.
He added that these services, launched by the Traffic Department in January this year, would save 100,000 work hours, in addition to six million trips to the Traffic Department offices. He also said that the “Tamm” aims to support a green environment by saving the value of paper, ink and other stationery besides the traffic officers devoting their time to providing better services by saving four million minutes of their time that would have been wasted.
