The security spokesman of Ministry of Interior has stated that further to the statement issued on 20/8/1438 A.H. on the martyrdom of a security man and the injury of five others as a result of their patrol being hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) while performing their duties in maintaining the public order in the surrounding area of Al-Masoura neighborhood in Qatif province, a security patrol was attacked by an improvised explosive device (IED) at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, 03/09/1438 A.H. corresponding to 29/05/2017.
He further said that the patrol was operating near the roundabout of Al-Rif neighborhood in Al-Awamiya, Qatif province and the blast resulted in the injury of two security men who were taken to hospital.
The security authorities have begun investigation into that terrorist crime, which is still under security follow-up, the spokesman added.
