Civil Affairs has begun issuing "family registry" for Saudi women - married, divorced, and widowed - to facilitate their procedures with government and private agencies that demand the registry to prove the identity of dependents.
The move comes in implementation of the directives of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, to facilitate the procedures for all segments of citizens.
For his part, Spokesman of Civil Affairs, Mohammed bin Jasser Al-Jasser, said the decision would facilitate procedures for Saudi women and protects their rights, affirming that the woman could get an official document including all details of her dependents, enabling her to present it to verify their identities at any sector.
He added that the new registry does not carry a woman's photo, but bears her sons' names and civil records, and that issuing the national ID card is a must to get the family registry.
